About the department:
In the Finance Department, we are going through an exciting period of growth and
we need more people to help us achieve this. We have a fantastic opportunity to
join the Finance team. Given the fast-paced nature and variety of the Finance
department, there will never be a dull moment in the role.
As a Commercial Finance Business Partner in our Finance Department, you will
play a pivotal role in supporting the company's financial objectives and driving
business growth. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide
strategic financial guidance, insightful analysis, and actionable recommendations
to senior management.
Key Responsibilities :
Gross Margin Analysis
Lead the analysis of gross margin performance by product category, SKU, and
sales channel. Identify factors impacting gross margin, including pricing, cost of
goods sold, promotions, and markdowns. Provide actionable recommendations to
optimise gross margin and mitigate margin erosion risks.
Pricing Strategy
Partner with Merchandising, Ecommerce, and Marketing teams to develop and
implement pricing strategies that balance profitability with market
competitiveness. Conduct pricing elasticity analysis, competitive benchmarking,
and promotional impact assessments to inform pricing decisions.
Product Assortment Optimization
Collaborate with Merchandising, Buying and Product Development teams to
optimise product assortment and mix based on gross margin objectives, customer demand, and market trends. Evaluate the profitability of new product launches and assortments to maximize gross margin contribution.
Cost Management
Work closely with Production teams to manage product costs and optimise
sourcing strategies. Evaluate vendor contracts, production efficiencies, and supply
chain optimisation initiatives to reduce costs and improve gross margin.
Promotions and Markdown Management
Evaluate the financial impact of promotional activities, discounts, and markdowns
on gross margin. Develop strategies to minimize margin dilution while effectively
managing inventory levels and driving sales.
Financial Planning, Forecasting and Reporting
Lead the development of gross margin forecasts, budgets, and targets in
collaboration with the wider team. Monitor actual performance against targets,
analyse variances, and provide insights to support decision-making and course
corrections. Develop regular reporting (daily / weekly / monthly) to meet the
business requirements.
Requirements
- Strong commercial acumen
- Qualified accountant
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Previous ecommerce / retail experience
- Excellent Excel modelling skills
- Data driven approach
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and implementing new ways of doing things
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- Must take a hands-on role
- Proactive and positive attitude
- Previous experience of Microsoft Power BI and SQL would be an advantage
