Director of Operations (Ecommerce)

Job description

We Are Seeking

An experienced and ambitious Operations Director to join a rapidly expanding fashion eCommerce pure-play in our Bromborough, Merseyside office.  

 

This office conducts a variety of operations for the business including; merchandising and supply planning, customer service, accounts and administration and distribution and warehousing.

 

As the most senior member of the Bromborough team you will be responsible for planning and executing a predicted 200% growth over the next 2 years.  

 

Major Activities

The following activities will not daunt you:

 

  • Engineering a move from a 9,000 sq/ft warehouse to 66,000 sq/ft in Q1 2020
  • Involvement in layout of new warehouse to optimise stock capacity and dispatch capacity plus picking efficiency.
  • Expansion of customer service team from circa 30 employees to over 70 in a 24/7 shift pattern.
  • Expansion of distribution team from circa 40 employees to over 100 in a 24/7 shift pattern
  • Increasing dispatch capacity from 3,000 parcels per day to 6,000 per day in 2019, and 10,000 per day by end of 2020 during weekly peak.  
  • Development of company strategy for all operations under your command.
  • Up skill existing management staff and recruit senior A-team management staff when required.
  • Implementation of Lean management/operation principles. 

 

About You

You will have broad experience in operations within an FMCG environment (must be B2C eCommerce).  You will have extensive management experience including at senior levels.

The types of management positions you will have held in your career may include; operations manager, general manager.

You are the type of person for whom performance and achievement is extremely important.  You will be driven and ambitious and capable of taking the company on its journey to become one of the leading eCommerce fashion brands in the UK.  

You are used to working efficiently and know how to get the best performance out of others by playing to their strengths.  

You have strong financial acumen, know how to negotiate a good deal and have experience tendering supplier contracts across a wide variety of projects.  

You will report only to the Managing Director and be able to discuss detailed company strategy at board level.

You will have an deep understanding of the various levers at your disposal to make improvements in the following areas and be able to demonstrate this understanding with prior experience or examples.

  • Achieving a 30 minute pick and dispatch for all Next Day orders placed before cut-off time 10.30pm (with 11pm collection)
  • Improving current pick and dispatch rates per man hour.
  • Optimisation of current inventory to achieve minimal cover
  • Reducing number of contacts per customer.
  • Reducing warehouse overheads.
  • Reducing inbound and outbound logistics time and cost.
